So what's he trying to throw? From the looks of it he's coming in HS and rolling to his back leg which will make it a backroll.
There's 2 steps to landing this
1. Hold the handle
2. Suck less (Going joke here in UT "would have landed it if you sucked less)

Here is a great video from West Coast Camps www.westcoastcamps.com that has riders throwdown new tricks including backrolls. Hope the video helps. Mike Schwenne uses only MB boats at WCC.

Is he attempting a new trick (bankroll?) or is he attempting W2W?
If the latter, he is shifting too much weight onto his back leg as approaching/hitting the wake. Natural reaction when first learning. Just needs to keep his weight pretty much centered between his two legs. This will allow for a much more level flight off the wake. Also keep the handle in close to his body. Bend the elbows to keep the handle up against his body.

Yhea - Just depending on what he is trying. If it is a back roll or mexi roll, than he needs to commit way more. I suggest trampoline or watching WCC or Shaun murray's videos for guidance. Also we try to slow the boat down and try a few one wake ones just to get the feel.

That video is awesome and shows the stoke of wakeboarding quite well... Thanks for sharing.

Thanks - I highly recommend West Coast Camps if you have kids that are ready have the most fun and progression-filled week of their summer. I only say this from the experience my son Matt has had over the past three summers at WCC. The crew at West Coast Camps is awesome! They use brand new MB boats every year and have a large staff that coaches in a family-like atmosphere.
