2017 MB B52 - Wake and Exhaust

I've been searching the forum for an answer to two questions. This is in regards to the 2017 MB B52 (23') with in-floor and dual 1100 lb ballasts. If you have some insight, I'd love to hear it.

With the in-floor and dual ballasts full, the new 2017 B52 throws one heck of a wake for wakesurfing. However, I have two complaints:

1) The wake is mostly upfront and close to the boat. Not very long.

2) There seems to be quite a bit of exhaust in the face of the wake surfer.

Any suggestions for how to lengthen that wake? I've tried moving people to the front of the boat, etc. Also, anybody else getting a lot of exhaust in their face when wake surfing?

This is the current setup that I'm running on our 17' B52 23'.

Regular side

Hard tanks full, PNP (port full & starboard 75%)

Cav plate 40%

10.8 mph

Goofy side

Hard tanks full, PNP full

Cav plate 75%

10.8 - 11.2

Keep an eye on your overfill port on your surf side to make sure it's not siphoning while surfing... You can usually tell it is by the wave shape change.  I'm installing a non-return in line valve on ours to stop this from happening.  Afraid I'll burn the pumps up by leaving them on all the time.

Wave is steep and plenty long for us.

Now, the exhaust SUCKS!!! We had our exhaust testing by indmar because we were concerned with the amount that was coming off our boat while surfing and everything checked out fine.  The "exhaust" is actually steam that is produced from the CATS.  It's harmless but truly annoying.  We ordered a FAE and waiting on its arrival.

Can you please expand on this? I'm not sure what you mean by "siphoning". I have a 21' and often hear gurgling sounds out of the overfill port and have seen water come out during sessions. However, this is on the non surf side.

Thanks!

Once the pnp bags are full and the pumps are turned off and someone is surfing, you can see the bags draining out though the overfill port on the surf side. Our hoses appear to be short and doesnt have a loop in the hose to prevent it from siphoning out when the boat is underpower. Does this make sense?

The gurgling sound is normal as that is the sound it makes when full, that port is just a vent, so as the boat rocks it will come out of that port if full.

I don't have a B52 but we have that same ballast setup on our 16 F22.  On mine, the key to getting it longer is to not fill the the PNP all the way, go faster (I'm digging 11.8 mph) and have weight up front.  I'd guess that I typically have more like 700 or so in each of the PNP bags.  I bought 250 lbs from Lead Wake that I run all the way forward under the bow seats and It really likes at leasst another 200 pounds of people of there (400 is better).  That  makes a very powerful, tall and long wave.  I'm thinking with the 1100s all the way full, even more speed and/or even more bow weight would be necessary.  Your exhaust issue may be simply due to the engine being pretty much maxed out with that much weight.  Try lightening up a bit or adding more weight up front, as both will make things easier on the engine.
