Icelakerebel
I know someone on here has to have put hinges and shocks on there seats! I would like to get some info on it so I could maybe try it out. And maybe the pros and cons. I just don't want to have a brand new boat and have issues with the seats not being put back down properly and them being damaged. Any info is greatly appreciated
Birddog7.62
ive never had a problem with seats being damaged by not being hinged. this would be a nice option though. I would pay extra for it.
dakota4ce
Hinges seats are great. My Supra has it and I like it more than I would have guessed I would. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk meetloaf13 and Birddog7.62
meetloaf13
They'd have to be reinforced properly, no? Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Birddog7.62
They'd have to be reinforced properly, no? Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk I would assume so, otherwise all boats would come that way.
Icelakerebel
I would imagine the seats are reinforced enough if they can support people sitting on them over a compartment underneath no? Don't think it would have to be anything insane to put a couple hinges and a small gas shock on. Just a small diy to create a little added creature comfort. I'm amazed they don't have it as an option. I would think it's pretty simple to do and small gas shocks are cheap as hell.
Tbag
Do it - I would love hinged seats and will follow your lead. The seat with the cooler under it is money. I want all of them like that. Birddog7.62
Icelakerebel
I haven't seen the way the 18's are yet haha bought mine based on the reviews from people here and my experience with my current mb. I'm definitely going to get some more research in and will be making it happen for sure. I feel like that's definitely one thing the new boats need Tbag

Tbag
Yeah - I’m not even sure where to find those spring supports - looks like it would be very easy to add.

It’ll be a fair amount of trial and error, there are different lbs of force along with length of travel and return rate. Stabilus is a big name in this area, but there are generics you can find on Amazon and eBay
hawkdad22
Ya surprised it hasn’t been done or isn’t an option on MB. Love my 17 F22. But rode a buddies 18 G23 and there were only 2 things I took away from that boat that made me want diff for mine, first is the walk thru (which they did for 18), 2nd was hinged seats. Can’t imagine those 2 things would cost much or be difficult to do...

Pnwrider
I like hinged seats except when it comes to cleaning the vinyl. That’s one of the reasons I went with a dark color scheme for the vinyl on my new boat. hawkdad22
did you get to surf it? I dig the walkthrough!!! Ya I did! Don’t get me wrong it was a phenomenal wave. And one thing I did like about the Surf system is you could tweak it with the push of a button to be taller or longer, you could almost change the breakpoint of the wave, but that’s well beyond my “need to have” price point. For practically half, I have a really nice F22....and the surf wave is just as good imo. But ya the walk thru just makes a lot of sense to me...and the hinges. Maybe next winter I’ll try to diy Birddog7.62 and meetloaf13
Birddog7.62
Its the nicest surf boat out there IMO in terms of fit, finish and options. However I have heard horror stories when it comes to feeding that beast. Like $15-20K in fuel in a season.
bloodiestcadaver
I dig the stern thrusters on the g23, idk I just think that is a nice touch. Maybe you can order the hinges from a 2018 from MB . That could be a good starting point, may only need minor adjustments

That might be game changer!! bloodiestcadaver
bloodiestcadaver
not on all but I believe the cooler cusion on the starboard side has one
Tbag
Yes - cooler on starboard side is hinged with a cool little spring support. I had not thought about the added pita factor hinges add to cleaning - not sure hinges are a good idea anymore. Pros and cons to everything I guess. robeport
I'm a fan of no hinges because I am slightly OCD when cleaning the boat and like the ability to completely remove the cushion to clean it and beneath it. I think it makes access easier as well. MWCasper
bloodiestcadaver
can somebody post up some pics of the hinges and placement? maybe that would help get an idea, might be able to just make some Hyperryd
