Couvmerk
I had all this typed and somehow fat fingered the refresh button. So here we go again. I have a question and a concern to add for others to check. I picked up a "used" 2018 with 54ish hours. I have been ghosting the forums trying to learn as much as I can before asking stupid questions. First the concern. I noticed my tower was loose on the starboard side. I was crawling around and noticed a gap. between the boat. Pretty small I think most people may never notice till it got worse but big enough to actually see some light through. It was on the back of the tower. The tower was also folded down so maybe the weight of the tower down was making far more pronounced. I cranked down all the bolts(3 big ones on each side) . I didn't see any signs of stress cracks or anything. I guess it is something to check each season besides all the little screws. The main question is I want to pick up a spare prop and I am torn between the 2849 and 2847. They are really similar. I am mostly around the Columbia and the lower lakes like yale/swift and prineville . The 2849 sounds pretty good but I am worried about it bogging on really heavy crew days. I saw tbag has a boat identical to mine. I was reading his evaluation of it and it seemed positive. But I didn't see any mention of when the boat is loaded down and 8+ people. So fire away ! oldsmobiledriver
I’d take out one bolt at a time and put some red loctite on those mother lovers!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk jtryon
Tbag
Couvmerk The larger diameter props work better but you will need to install a stainless plate to prevent gell coat burn. I can surf with 15 adults and 300lbs of lead - I had to drain the hard tanks a bit to get the wave to clean up. oldsmobiledriver
Couvmerk
Thanks Tbag. That is what I wanted to hear. Are you still running the vinyl patch or decided to run the stainless plate ? I was reading about the gel burn . olds- I considered it as well .They are nyloc bolts and only one side was seriously loose. it makes me wonder if it was missed from the factory. I cranked them down and I will watch them .

Tbag
A thin coat of 3m 5200 on the stainless will do the trick. Birddog7.62
