HyperRyd Designs Demo Boat Build

Finally got the dash back together.  Changing the ballast switches to toggles, adding toggles for ballast pumps, adding Exile BT & EQ, and adding a couple of home runs to the battery banks took longer than planned.  All good.  I love how the black came out.

dude that looks dope!! really well done. and you got rid of the single worst head unit Ive had the misfortune of crossing paths with.

absolutely,  it never wanted to connect via blue tooth.  i added the Exile EXBT4 to my ZLD and it connects so fast. very happy with that

HyperRyd what are you plans for the toggle switch labeling? I have all toggles on my dash and have wanted to powder coat but not sure how to relabel everything. Was thinking of having round donut stickers made at a graphics shop or something?

  • 4 weeks later...

I’ve finally made some time to start getting this boat back together before Labor Day. The stereo finally came to life today.
I gutted all of the factory stereo and wires. I ran all new Exile equipment and new wiring. I swapped all of the 6.5” out for SX-65m’s and added a set on the dash. These are powered by an XM15.4 amp. I built a 2.3 cu ft box under the helm and ran a Big12 powered by an XM15.1. The woofer faces the driver and the port faces the starboard helm. I only lost about 3” of legroom for this box. For the tower I went with four SXT9Q surf speakers powered by an XM30.2. I painted the grills satin white to match the tower. With all of the tower accessories being Gloss black and satin white on the white tower, the whole set up pops. I decided to replace the old two piece bimini top with a brand new one piece complete with new hardware from Tower Biminis.
I mounted all of the amps and a Noco Gen2 battery charger on an amp wall made of a textured HDPE type of plastic. I drilled out the feet on the amps and added helicoils to the wall so the amps are bolted instead of screwed into it. I’m a “hide all the wires” kind of guy so I was really happy with how this turned out. Behind the wall I built custom brackets to hold two Group 31 AGM batteries on their side and not move. This allowed me to lose very little room under the bow seat even with the huge batteries. I will have to add some lead to the starboard side to offset the 154lbs of batteries. I used the two batteries in the stock location for the boat bank and the 31’s as the stereo bank.
The source is an Exile Digital Media Center feeding an MKII Zone Controller in a factory MB plate from the 2019 models. I changed out the rocker switches to the 5 toggle switches.
The switches now control the factory ballast and the new reversible pumps I’m installing for 650lb bags in the lockers. Hopefully the ballast will be finished next week. The holes in the hull are already drilled and the wiring is all set up. I just need to install the pumps and plumb it. I will take more pics of everything next week after a couple of missing parts get here.
I’ve never use Exile equipment in my boats before. I am very glad I did for this boat. The equipment is very nice in build quality and sounds awesome, not to mention great customer service!
