So who is firing up a new MB this year? Lets see those build sheets and color schemes. What boat are you getting and why.

Posted in the January Pics thread but here is what I have ordered up:

Not on the build sheet:

- Hinged Seats

- New Skylon Racks

- Diamond Gator pattern w/ B52 logo

- Trailer w/Moto Metal 962 wheels and teak Gator

- Tinted Windshield

Originally I had it 100% white with black p/c on everythibg but the wife ended up veto'ing that....

Did you consider grey Gator?  It would go well with the Charcoal/grey theme you have.

Yes, that is what we had last year.  I like the contrast with the teak on this.  Was worried it would be too much grey......

Do you upgrade each season?  I've thought about that approach.  Since boats don't depreciate the way cars do it's really not that bad financially.

It has turned in to that and has worked out for us so far.  I'm sure there will be a time when it doesn't make sense and that's fine.  I order what I like and if somebody wants it at the end of the season and it pencils enough on my side - on to the next one.

Explain how this works out....or define what “works out” means. I have often heard this rhetoric but on my melon there is no way it can work with interest paid, depreciation and annual price increases of boats. Unless you’re finding a way to buy wholesale and sell at used retail.

Honest question, not a dig or a roast.

Amen, my buddy bought a Supra 550 SE last summer, used it once, had a big business deal fall through, and lost his cash flow, and had to try and sell it back 2 months later. He had to eat 18K.

That’s nasty—but what I would fully expect at the same time.

If you were a dealer, it could work with a personal boat, but then again not sure you would “buy” one if you’re the dealer.

Anyway, always wondered how this situation exists.

I would agree, either you are getting a near wholesale deal on the boat, Or you would just have to be ok with an X amount of yearly loss. I see 1 season old boats going for 10k less or more then new price. So unless you were putting close to 1000 per month towards principle, I don't see how you would not take a loss, My montly payment is no where near that, and until a loan matures, not much is even going towards principle at that

Cash deals don’t even work. It loses value with hours and new boats go up.

I would imagine you would just have to accept the hit every year and be ok with it.

Unless you’re stealing them at the outset. That would come closer to working.
