Can someone enlighten me on what the purpose might be for somebody wanting actual lead versus steel shots? I have 10 bags basically new from leadwake. I tried 200 hundred pounds in the front of my F 22, and it actually made the wake worse. The wave on my 23 is damn good so I don’t wanna mess with it. So I decided to sell my 500 pounds on craigslist. And when I met with the guy he was surprised to see them in bags, and when I showed him the info on them, he was upset that they’re not actually even lead. I didn’t even know what to tell the dude.

I mean all i can think of is lead is more dense than steel so i would guess that steel bags are a little bigger than the lead of the same weight?

Jeremy, have you tried running some lead? I have 200 in the nose and 100 port side near tower base. Haven't tried no lead to compare but I figure if its wife driving and 3 light kids changing positions all the time at least I've have a little better cleaned up port side wave.

Yeah the Portside is probably not a bad idea. I rarely need weight in the front of my boat. That seems to be everybody’s favorite spot on the boat, so sometimes I even have to drain the front bag

Suspect he was a hunter and/or loads his own shotgun shells. Lead shot is more dense than steel - resulting in a heavier shell - better for bird hunting.

Gotta love craigslist buyers. They never cease to amaze. Someone should be contacting you soon to help you sell them for a small fee or send you a $10k check for them if you would just send back the balance from your account.

Ya, I’ve generally had pretty good luck selling on craigslist. Boats, equipment whatever. But you definitely deal with all the crap that comes with it. Just trying to sell local so I don’t to ship.

Lead weighs about 200 lbs greater then steel per cubic foot. More bang for your buck as far as utilizing space in your boat. Also if the liner fails on the bags I've had steel bags leave rust marks on my storage compartment carpet where lead would not have.

Also depending on what the price of lead is for scrap, he could have been wanting to make a few fast $$$.
