  1. Hi Folks. I just purchased a 1998 MB Sports 20 foot open bow (my first boat). I took it out this weekend and ran into a small problem, I believe with the bilge pump. I'm new to boating, so any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. After being out on the water for a few hours and taking some waves over the bow, I noticed the floor at the back was very wet. So we came back home and put the boat on our lift, opened the engine compartment, and there was a lot of water in the boat. So I pulled the plug and drained what I could, but the boat sits at an angle on the lift, with the bow slightly higher than the transom, so I believe there is still water in the very back of the boat that was unable to drain out (and the floor in the back compartment is still a bit wet). After draining, I looked in the compartment under the front passenger seat where the bilge pump is at. The bilge pump appears to have two square pieces. One is mounted to the boat, and then there is a top piece that snaps onto the piece that is mounted onto the boat. When I looked at the bilge pump, the top piece was not snapped into the bottom piece. So I am guessing that is why the boat did not drain properly while in use, but since I am new to this I wanted to get some advice from people about bilge pump operation. FYI, the bilge pump makes noise when I flip the bilge switch, whether the two pieces are attached or not. So now that I have the pieces attached, if I flip the switch it makes noise, but no water drains out (because it is all collected at the back of the boat???). Thanks again for any help you can provide.
