Yumatucky1
I'm about to pull the trigger on a new 2015 boat. After test driving(and pricing), numerous other manufacturers, I now for sure it's going to be an MB. My uses are 60% surf, 20% board and 20% cruise and tube. I'm going to plumb in weight in the lockers, but can't go over 750#'s or so. Which is the better surf wake? Thanks from a new guy!
Smokinjo
My opinion, B52 23 is easier to set up for surf with additional weight. However, either boat when set up properly will meet the needs you described above.

MidnightMax
From what I have seen between those 2 models, B52 hands down.. IMO steve142
Kalamazoo
23 for surf, no question. we, however, went f22. nearly as good of surf (90%), but slow speed (18.5) wakeboard wake was key for kids. 750 is perfect for 22. may want 1100 for 23 (depends on how mackin of a wave you want). both boats are not set up properly to pull tubes and that practice is not recommended at all. ever. theedgeinc and mbalsiger

allzway
We pulled one and two tubes all summer with our F22. We probably use our boat about the same as you described. We added two 400lbs bags (one in the rear locker and one in the storage below the middle seats) and the wake was very nice.
Yumatucky1
Hey everyone, thanks for the info and quick responses. I think I was about to buy the wrong boat! I really like the look of the pickle, and that was swaying my decision. Sounds like the B52 is the way to go. Whose going to break the news to my wife?? oldsmobiledriver
Darksider
Just curious.... why the hangup on only 750lb bags?
Yumatucky1
I'm thinkin storage. I need the lockers to still be somewhat functional. Doesn't the 1100# take the full locker?

onlyinboards
I've been very happy with the surf wave in my 22 with 1100's plumbed in.
Shawndoggy
The tube wake on the 23 is epic. DatTexasBoy
Shawndoggy
But the low speed wakeboard wake does suck major donkey balls.

Darksider
I'm thinkin storage. I need the lockers to still be somewhat functional. Doesn't the 1100# take the full locker? Don't know how much you know about this stuff, but they're ballast "bags". No matter what size you go with, you'll have to remove whatever you have stored in the locker before you fill the added ballast. And 750's are 50x20x20, 1100's are 50x24x24. Not a huge size difference. 1100's will fill the locker of either boat a lot better and give you a better surf wave.
Yumatucky1
Appreciate it guys. I'm going to demo a f22 next friday(already demo'd the b52). The 22 is a 2014 with no surf tabs, the 52 is 'a 15 with tabs. Will they make a big diff? Do they shape the wake at all or just let you transition easier? The 52 had a pretty good wake stock, from my perspective. I'm coming out of a '05 Supreme v232, with 1000#'s total ballast.
Darksider
From what I've seen so far in the forums, I wouldn't bother with the tabs. I've seen them being more damaging to the wave than they were helpful.
Yumatucky1
Thanks Darksider. I didn't have any bags in my other boat, we just loaded people and beer coolers and listed it as much as we could. I was hoping to keep ropes, vests and other pliable crap in there with full ballast. Shawndoggy
in the 23 there's still definitely room for vests with 1100s.... they just stay on top of the bags. I wouldn't put ropes there (lest you get the bag full and find the handle half trapped) but vests work there fine.

Kalamazoo
I attached cargo nets in the locker openings. they hang down about half way (but will stretch all the way if loaded up). the keep everything over the bags and easy to get to. when the bags are full, everything stays there. KingMatyas
Am I the only one that doesn't find the pickle fork appealing? I pulled tubes all summer long too, after we were done surfing for the day. What a freaking riot. Go with the B52 23. I'm not biased.
