I used to do that when i would deploy for 8 months at a time, but i think it might be over kill for just the winter. Cant hurt anything though if u just wanna do it. I use it to allow all water to drain out of boat. Why would you put all the trailer weight on the trailer jack-stand when it takes about 30 seconds to put on a real stand.
