Birddog7.62
Was giving her a once over today in the garage and the welds have failed where the tab is welded to the hinge plate. Thought I saw someone else that had this issue. those welds are itty bitty.

Racer808
Yeah this was on some facebooke posts, I need to check mine. Can you put a pic so I know where to look on mine? Any thing one could do to be ahead of the curve with a fix before the weld gives?

Any thing one could do to be ahead of the curve with a fix before the weld gives? You could have a good local welder lay some nice welds and/or put a half dozen bolts/nuts through. bloodiestcadaver
My 17 had to be done. I caught it before it broke off, it was only cracked
OrangeTJ
On my 16 F22 those welds started failing at the beginning of last season. I ended up running 6 bolts through the connection. Can't imagine it coming apart now! Pretty disappointing to see those little welds letting go, though.
Kalen427
Is awesome to see the quick response from Bosshog, and assuring MB will be standing behind it though! Racer808, The Donfather and Birddog7.62

hot4teach
At the very least you'd want to put one in each corner at the leading edge. Preston M.

Racer808
Here you go. Did you take them off to drill? It looks like the hinges are tigged on the ends to stay in place? GSA on my 13 the hinge bar was always backing out, Ryan at GSA told me to put some JB weld on the ends. Looked at mine last night, no cracks but wouldn't mind putting a few bolts in place just to be safe.
oldsmobiledriver
No way man! Be the rebel and drill those bad boys right where they’re at!!! Went through a couple of bits in the process as well (I'm certain that was operator error, though!).

Racer808
Are the they screws at the hulls or thru bolts? how do you get the gate to come down a bit since you have to be moving to operate them? Mine are currently sucked tight to the swim deck
Wylietunes
At the very least you'd want to put one in each corner at the leading edge. The pic in this post, looks like a binding hinge as the possible root cause. The force is applied by the actuator, and the weld is giving closest to the hinge. OrangeTJ
Yeah, just undo the actuator at the tab end, not the transom end. Then the hinge is just screwed into the transom. Easy stuff - just be sure to seal it all up again when screwing it back on.
