dbjustice 17
Anyone have experience/advice for Surfing on river with decent current? 2016 B52 21 and normally have an amazing wave and was on the Columbia River in tri cities WA today and wave struggled both up and down river ..... no push no lip and I was adjusting speed up to 13+ mph down river and down to 8.5 mph upriver to account for current and still couldn’t get it decent...... any help would be much appreciated!! Wake Master 17
What is the depth of the river? You heed at least 15 feet of water under the boat to generate a great wake. Sbentz101
dbjustice 17
Thanks for the reply .... the shallowest part we were in was 40+ ft
The Donfather 4,382
We also ride in current. Not as bad as yours. I have been on the Willamette. Pretty rare we have a heavy 3+ mph current. When we do the wave changes. Less push doesn't matter direction. So I guess you were in probably in a high current day.
breakz77 1,489
Having a paddle wheel over GPS speed control extremely helps in current.
dillyrev 49
I surf parker which can have a pretty good current, only got a few runs after breaking in boat but upriver speed/wave seemed really good about 9mph, 4 people in boat everything full with one person riding in front worked best. turps73 92
yes i surf in parker as well and we always go up current. depth is a huge factor. down stream kills push of wave
