Finally got my gatorstep in for my rear seat step. My original plan was to build it 3 sheets high with the bottom 2 sheets only being a 1” thick frame (hollow in the center), and the top sheet being hinged. This would give me the same height as the seats and would also give additional storage When you flip up the top. But, with how freaking expensive the HDPE is I decided to just do this for now. I may revisit the rest of the plan later. But I think this looks good enough to work till the off season!

Thanks! Yes I cut it myself. Built a template out of MDF, then used a spiral flush bit to route it out of 1” HDPE, and a round over bit for the edges. It is not hinged, it snaps in like the OEM seat does. I’ve actually had the HDPE for a couple years. I’d bought it from a plastic supplier when I lived in Boise still. It was a leftover piece they had cut off from doing a project and I paid almost nothing for it. When I was building this I tried to source more to build it taller like I mentioned, but for a 48 x 24 sheet it was like $170, and id have to buy 2 of those! So for now, it stays how it is haha.

Looks AWESOME!!!  My rear seat will need to be re-done after this summer.  I think I might do this.  No one ever sits there anyway.  Has anyone ever added the walk through pads on the engine covers?

Looks great!  I've been planning a similar project for my '05.   I also was looking at either 2 or 3 sheets to get the step flush with the seat cushion surface.  Good news it the rear center seat on the '05 is much smaller than yours.

Was the HDPE smooth, or did it have a slight textured surface, like a cutting board?   I've heard the Gatorstep might not stick well to the textured surface?

It was smooth, I’m not sure how it would work on the textured...

Yes they did! I had some fun with that also... grip tape and some lead wake!

I have another 300 of lead sitting on the dock...……..brilliant idea.  No worries of the extra weight on the fuel tank?

It's spread out enough that I'm not concerned. I weigh about 200lbs and if I stand in the center of the tank it flexes somewhat but not a ton. The 50lb bags spread out don't seem to flex it at all. It also has built in ribbing and gussets to keep it stout, I have checked it several times and it all seems to be great.
