  1. Thanks for the reply orange. I’ll give that a try. How much weight are you running in the rear, and stock or bags?
  2. Yeah, 1000lbs. I’ve tried 1000lbs up front with just 1800 stock tanks full. I’ve tried 1000lbs up front with the 850 bags in lockers full, thinking the weight is higher than sub floor, and more rear oriented (as the hard tanks span to nearly the drivers seat. I just can’t get a clean wake below 22-23 mph while wakeboarding. I’ve tried to slam 5 people up there WITH the 1000lbs to see what it would do, and still sloppy and washed. I’ll cruise at 23 mph all day doing tricks i can land/have done in the past. The wakes are great, nice clean lip, long transition. But I’ve taken lessons, done wake clinics, and we all learn at around 17-20mph. 15-16mph while trying new spins (the clean wake isn’t as necessary then though). As for wakesurfing, I’m fairly certain the trim tab will help with the wave. It’s already massive with 4500lbs and my ghetto suction gate. I just need it to be longer. I’m 26, so I’m not ready to give wakeboarding up completely yet. Give me 10 more years, and maybe an ACL and I’ll switch to just wakesurfing. As of now, I’m about 70/30 though.
  3. Thanks all for the replies. I’m at a crossroad right now to either spend more time and money putting the trim tab on, dialing in the wakeboard wake/surf wave, or sell my boat and get something else. I wakeboard probably 70-80% of the time. I just really want a clean wake without hauling ass at 23mph. Catching an edge learning new tricks sucks big time going that fast.
  4. Interesting. What about for wakeboarding? Do you put it back up after you get on plane? On my buddies moomba, it automatically goes back up. However, he manually puts it back down, and the wakes are 100% cleaner.
  5. Hey guys, Can anybody give me some good insight on whether or not the trim tab is a night and day difference while wake surfing/wakeboarding? I’m dealing with a ton of wash at the lip of the wake while wakeboarding. While wakesurfing the wave is massive, but not long. I know the tab will help me with elongating the surf wave, but will it clean up the wash while wakeboarding? I’m not fond of riding at 23+ mph, and anything slower than that, unless I’m not running ANY weight, is really sloppy. Here’s my setup: 2013 F21 tomcat ~1000lbs in the nose Both 900 lb hard tanks filled 850’s in each locker (still playing with the right weight distribution) I obviously can’t get on plane with everything full, as it’s about 4500lb of ballast, plus people and what not. However, I can’t even get a clean wake with the stock tanks full below 22mph. My hopes with the trim tab are: Get on plane with the added weight Clean up the wash on the wakeboarding wake (at slower speeds) Elongate the surf wave I already have a 2419 prop, so I’m maxed out there. My buddy has a 2017 Moomba, and putting the center trim tab down while wakeboarding turns his wake from a foamy mess into a nice clean wake. Makes his surf wake nice too. It’s a completely different boat with the center trim tab. We’re able to load the boat down and get huge pop at 18mph for trying new inverts. Without the tab, it’s just messy. I know MB’s are notorious for washing out at the lip, and not being able to get a clean wakeboard wake at slower speeds. I’ve already dumped about $4k into my boat trying to make the wakes clean and consistent, and am hesitant to drop more money into it if i can never get it down at slower speeds (20-21mph). So, in summary, any experiences with guys who have the center trim tab? What is the wake like with/without it? Thanks all!
  6. Thanks for the reply Lucas. Do you run that 650lb bag in addition to something under your front seats, or just the bag and the lead? So about ~1000lbs in your bow, and ~1600 in each rear locker? Sounds legit. I’m just hesitant to cut a big hole in my boat where the batteries go lol but that does sound like a solid place for a bag. Right now, i can get about 400lbs in the nose with the bag under the seats. I put another 300-500lbs of lead up there. I was attempting to run similar weight as you in shasta last week, but couldn’t get on plane. I’m definitely going to need a trim tab. Got a quote from my local dealer for $1400 for the trim tab. I’m a big DIY guy when it comes to my house and rentals. I can remodel a house like a MF, but for some reason drilling holes in my boat just makes me uneasy. I hate how fast i have to ride to get a clean wake with my MB. I caught an edge at 20mph on my buddies moomba the other day and racked my noggin pretty good.
  7. Is it Northwest boat sports here in Portland? Have you ever had them do any work Jake? I may get a quote from them just to see what it would be.
  8. I tried the links, but the parts aren’t available anymore. I think I’m going to piece together my own kit. There’s a guy on here that sells the plates. I’ll still need the hydraulic arm, and switch though. Anybody have any links to updated parts that would work? The 2419 is a more aggressive prop than a 2079. Still a 15X12, but the cup is a little more aggressive. The boat is weighted as sh!t, but it should still be able to pull that much weight.
  9. Yeah, idk wtf the dude was talking about. I tried telling him i just wanted a trim tab, but he was pushing the full surf gate. Not really impressed with AWS honestly. Their work was sloppy on the ballast bag install. Loose hoses under seats and gobs of silicone on the vent lines. Easy to spot what is factory and what is aftermarket.
  10. Anything cheaper to install than the wake makers kit? They’re talking the full surf gate kit. I was thinking just a hydraulic gate mid ship to get on plane for wakeboarding. Don’t need surf gate. The suction cup works great for that.
  11. Thanks for the reply big blue. Got back from shasta yesterday. My setup i was trying was: Stock 900lb tanks full 850’s in both rear lockers (maybe 500’ish lbs full) Sumo sac 500lb in nose under seats (maybe 400lb full) 300lb lead in nose 3 people in nose (maybe 400lbs) Acme 2419 prop (15X12X.075) Overall, i had well over 1000lbs in the nose. With the stock tanks and bags, probably around 1400-1500lbs in each rear locker. I could not get the boat to plane. It would top out at about 13mph. I’m thinking I’m going to need trim tabs :/ I was pointed in the direction of the wakemakers kit, but at $4k, I’m not really wanting to dump that much more money into the boat if it’s not going to produce. The bag and prop install was over $3k. I’m pretty disappponted with the end result. I may try to put even more weight in the nose, and see how that fairs. I didn’t get any photos of the wake, but I’m going to hit the lake with my buddy this week/weekend and see if we can dial something decent in and snap some photos.
  12. Do you trailer your boat with the lead in? I figure 200-300 pounds couldn’t hurt if it’s spread out a bit. Hate lugging those lead bags in and out of the boat.
  13. Awesome meetloaf. Got my boat back from AWS. They actually F’d up and put the sumo sac 500 in the bow.... along with forgetting to order my new prop, and spewing fiberglass dust/dirt all over the inside of my boat... anyway, I’m heading to shasta tomorrow and will let you know how this setup works. I’ll snap a few photos of the bags and wake. Funny, because my setup looks exactly like yours (besides the timers). Quarter turn valves at base of tubing, pumps in same location, same bags, etc. Who knows, the sumo sac may be better than the integrated. We’ll see!
  14. Ahhh makes sense. Did the timers come with the wakemkakers kit they installed, or did you do that? You set the timers yourself? I’m doing exactly what you’re doing. 850’s in rear with integrated in bow. Wakemakers kit, one per location. What was the situation with your impeller? As in, how long does it take to fry, how much is the replacement, is it easy to swap, etc.
