  1. Just I suspected, no ideas only bashing. You certainly are a class act. Self proclaimed bible thumping? You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. We are not a religous organization. Yes I have MY religous views, I would never deny that. Wake the World events are put on by local boat owners that are wanting to give back. There is no religous agenda. I really don't care if you think tagging sponsors is tacky. The goal is to get people involved in lake clean up. If sponsors get exposure, who cares? It's all good. We all are still waiting to hear your plans for organizing a national lake clean up day.
  2. I am always amazed at those that search for a negative side. A group of boat owners trying to have a positive impact on the environment by trying to organize a nationwide lake clean up day is lame and humorous? WOW... We decided to make it fun and interactive to inspire more people to get involved. Selfies, social media & prizes sounded like a pretty good mix to me. Not sure how you threw ministry & outreach into this lake clean up project. Instead of bashing, I would like to hear your plan to organize a nationwide lake clean up day so that we can learn from you.
  3. Wake the World is proud to announce a new nationwide campaign called “Lake Love”. This is a lake beautification project. (aka picking up trash). What makes this campaign different is that it involves hash tagging, social media, sponsors & swag! Here’s the simple explanation of how it works; You pick up trash at the lake Take pictures of you & your friends doing this awesome thing Upload pics to social media Hashtag sponsors Sponsors randomly send you stuff Our date is set for Saturday, October 17th. Here’s where I need your help. I have been working with the nationally recognized companies to be sponsors (basically agreeing to give you guys stuff for doing something awesome and hashtagging their company). I need help with getting the local dealers and marinas on board. The more local shops that are involved the more swag that it is available and in turn more people will want to pick up trash. This project will be… Good for the environment Raise awareness Give local shops national attention Introduce more people to Wake the World Good exposure for national sponsors Low cost for sponsors Creates a buzz on social media You get to feel good about doing something awesome Contact your local shop or marina, ask them to be involved, send them to our website for the details. www.wtwlakelove.org Our National sponsors so far are: Wake the World, Tige, Centurion, Supreme, ZUP, SeaTow, Above the Wake, Alcoa I am waiting to hear back from the other boat manufacturers and board companies, no one has said no. Locally we have: Old North State Marina, Crazy Horse Marina, Lilly’s Bridge Marina, Race City Marine, Grandpa’s Marine, North Point Watersports, Charlotte Ski Boats, Boat Dock Marine, Blueway Paddle & Summit Construction. www.lakelovewtw.org www.waketheworld.org
  4. Major Announcement from Wake the World on October 1st. It is national in scope and it involves YOU!
  5. Wake N Flake 2015 is set for March 7th. Online sign up is now open! www.wakenflake.com Wake N Flake is a day of wakeboarding and snowboarding on the same day all to raise money for Wake the World www.waketheworld.org Choose from several locations to wakeboard behind brand new wake boats, eat lunch, get a hooded sweatshirt and a lift ticket for Appalachian Ski Mountain for that evening. This is bucket list stuff!
  6. Thanks, I have been getting several emails over the last day or so. I've heard from people in Tennessee (3), Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota(3), Maine, South Carolina, Sacramento, and SoCal. If you are interested in participating, please email your info and where you are located. I will put you on our contact list and keep you informed on events being planned in your area. It's just like I said, "Boat owners are awesome!" Greg waketheworld@earthlink.net
  7. Thanks to all of you that make Wake the World so awesome! It’s hard to believe that just a few years ago, 8 friends with boats got together to take some kids from the children’s home out for a day at the lake and now there are over 300 boats with 30 events in 23 states and Canada! We are already working on brand new events for next summer in Minnesota, South Carolina and in the Sacramento area. We are also slowly expanding our handicap/wounded warrior program as well. Boat owners are awesome! They are the most encouraging people on the planet (how many times have you encouraged someone to “try it one more time”). That encouraging attitude combined with kids that need it the most is life changing for everyone. www.waketheworld.org
  8. Several years ago I had a girl that kept leaning back. I would say ' "Lean forward" over and over. Finally I said, "try to lick the water as it comes over the board". And she got up on the next try. Ever since then.... it's lick the water!
  9. I am sure that a lot of you know this method, but I'll bet most do not.
  10. Wow! That's how many boats volunteered for Wake the World events last year! What an incredible season, you guys are awesome! Our Wake the World family is growing like crazy! We have had events in 18 states + Alberta, Canada. A Wake the World event is a day that will likely change your life. Check our website and see what all the fuss is about. www.waketheworld.org Here is a promo video from 2012. https://vimeo.com/52694176
  11. Chubnut- send me your email, we have shortage of boats in Utah.
  12. For the past 5 years a group of us wakeboard and snowboard on the same day to raise money for Wake the World. This year it is on March 2nd. Last year 83 of us did it. Hopefully we will top 100 this year. Anyone else do something similar? http://www.wakenflake.com
  13. I love all the great responses! If you are interested in helping with or starting a Wake the World, send me your email. I have a list of 210+ boat owners from across the country. We need to have you on the list. That way when someone is ready to host an event, we already have volunteers on standby. My email is: waketheworld@earthlink.net
  14. Don, send me your email. We have someone that is setting something up in NorCal. They have talked about Lake Berryessa. I will give him your email so that you help out if you would like.
