dobber
I think most guys use W-D 40. Applied liberally.
oldsmobiledriver
I heard not to use WD-40 but I think to use white lithium grease in an aerosol can.

Kalamazoo
wd40 is not a good lubricant. Â spray silicone is what I use. Â usually about every 2-3 trips out. Â close-spray, open-spray oldsmobiledriver

jhasting
Grease the ballast valve gate on both sides with Dow Corning 111 grease or equivalent. Non petroleum base.
clovenburg
W-D 40 make a water resistant silicone spray that I use with no problem
fhoover
so I just had a gate fail I disassembled and found why they are failing moisture getting into the motor and rusting it up having nothing to do with lubeing the gate in my opinion it's a assembly error. It would stick at first then failed completely it was a pain in the butt to get apart by the way. allzway
oldsmobiledriver
Sounds about right, screams cheap every time I push the switch! I might pull mine back out and dry them out and put a whole tube a silicon on them!!!

22mini20
I feel like you could just put a different motor in there I swear I have seen similar motors on the shelf somewhere
fhoover
You could but to open it you have too use a razor knife it is epoxyd together and by opening it up you change the clearence between the two halfs and could cause another issue also chances of sealing it back up are pretty slim. It's a throw away component.
